Ice Ram
Steel, glass, Super8mm film loops, solar panels, electronics
Installations dimensions vary, 1996
Collection of Zanker Road Land Fill
Ice Ram was conceived with a hybridized architecture of nature in mind – one that includes within its blueprints aesthetics concerned with the communication and control processes between biological and artificial systems.
The sculpteres display a computer controlled random sequence of films, (which are projected from within), onto their glass, domed tops. The film content varies between ant swarms and spiral galaxies. The project is solar powered by a system installed outside the gallery. Connection cables breech interior/exterior barriers according to a site specific layout and reserve power is stored in deep cycle batteries.
